Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between your performance classes and recreational classes?
Our performance program is for the more serious dancer, they dance 2-3 times a week, partake in 4 competitions and 2 conventions throughout the season as well as our end of the year recital. Our recreational classes are for dancers who want to dance but are not ready to commit to more than 1 day a week, these dancers practice weekly, and perform in our end-of-the-year recital.
How do I know what level to place my child in the performance classes?
Each dancer is evaluated by our instructors during our summer session and is placed in the appropriate class by the instructors.
When can we enroll for classes?
We offer two dance sessions, a Fall session (runs like the school year August - June) and a summer session (June and July). Current CDS students can register for the fall session in April, new students can register beginning in May, registration ends for the fall session in October. All performance dancers must be registered for summer and fall sessions.
How do we register for classes?
You can log on to our Parent Portal here, create a user name and register your child directly online. You can also find the link for the Parent Portal at the top and bottom of each page. If you have questions regarding registration you can email frontdesk@contemporarydancestudio.com
How large are your classes?
We like to keep our class sizes small, this allows our instructors to give more one-on-one attention to each dancer. Our 2yr classes max out at 8 dancers, 3yr max out at 10 dancers, 5-6yr and older max out at 12 dancers.
